Book Lovers
When playwright, Kevin Mandry, asked me to stage his play I already had another major project on the go. But when I read Book Lovers the script immediately captured my imagination and I just couldn't resist the temptation of staging it. It is a story of two lonely people who share one common passion — love of reading. Will this passion turn them into friends, or are they destined to become something more then just friends for each other?
Book Lovers is a play about two people who are trying to connect with each other, to defeat their fears and insecurities in order to stop living in a 'library' and start existing in the real world.
I think that everyone should be able to relate to the story of this play and to the journey of its characters, brilliantely portrayed by Richard Evans and Denise O'Leary. It was a sheer joy for me to work on this project and I hope very much to present Book Lovers again during Camden Fringe Festival next year.
