Two Tales on the Theme of Plagiarism

Two Tales on the Theme of Plagiarism
A one act production in Russian by Goodge Street Theatre

These two short humorous plays by talented playwright Tatiana Dittrich transport us into late 19th century Russia where the nobility were just beginning to come to terms with the fact that servants can no longer be owned and are officially free citizens. Suddenly they were able to do as they pleased and were even allowed to leave their masters. However, it takes a while to change a nations mindset and servants still chose to stay at their positions. They were unfamiliar with freedom and were wary of it.

So, some masters saw it as an opportunity and take full advantage of them. Some of them even take their servant's verses and declare them to be their own... Others claimed to have known the great Pushkin personally, even though they had never set eyes on him.

Fashions change quickly, technology develops, but does human society grow in its sophistication and become more morally sound? Perhaps not as much as we'd like it to.
