| No White Mongoose for Wilma
A Cosmic Players & DoesGood Theatre presentation
Ms Wilma Cruikshank, Mrs Carshalton and Mrs Zizou are Victorian ladies who lunch. Their menus have included the most exotic dishes from around the globe; however, their next culinary extravagance may prove a step too far...
As a director, who has worked with new writing many times before, I am particularly happy to present this new play by Darren Brealey, an Australian playwright of rare and original talent. His eccentric comedy about rather outstanding (if not dangerous) Victorian ladies is both a situational comedy and a biting social commentary. This play is unlike anything else I've seen or read before, despite the certain flavor of Oscar Wilde and the lighthearted lunacy that is reminiscent of writings by Lewis Carroll.
Brealey has his very own style and unique writing voice. His comedy is disturbing and funny at the same time. His Victorian England is unlike any other known portrayal of the era. Prepare to be amused, surprised and quite possibly shocked.
